NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood TV November 26 report
By Jay Cal
I missed this weeks edition of NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood when it was live on KDOC-TV, but fortunately enough the good people at www.nwahollywood.com had made it available very quickly!
The introduction to the show was different. Remember last week when the show went off the air we saw Adam Pearce passionately kissing his Worlds Championship and Colt Cabana laying in the middle of the ring, but in previous episodes David Marquez would thank the fans for watching and preview the next show. Well conspicuous by his absence again is David Marquez. The trio of announcers, Todd Kennelly, Stu Stone, and James Morgan are shot giving their thoughts and the run down of tonight’s card.
To start the night off, we get the debut of one of the highest sought after free-agents in wrestling, “A Double” Austin Aries taking on Famous B. The last time we saw Famous B, Willie Mack left him folded up like an accordion after a Chocolate Thunder Bomb. But apparently the swagger was back with Famous B. The announcers put over the accolades of Aries, a former two times Ring of Honor World Champion, defeating Samoa Joe and Jerry Lynn to win the Championships. Unlike Mack, Aries is proportioned a lot closer to Famous B. And through out the match, it seems like these two were equally matched. Of course Aries gains the upper hand through nefarious means as he shoves B off the top turnbuckle. Through out the match, Aries finds ways to disassemble Famous B’s knee. Watching “A Double,” I’m reminded of “Double A” Arn Anderson. This match was the Bees Knees, literally. Not only was this an excellent match by both competitors, but it came down to B’s Knees being the target of Aries. And although Famous B got a lot of offense in, this match was Aries to lose. And with the Aries Lock in the center of the ring, “A Double” wasn’t about to lose anything.
David Marquez returns to in ring duties this week when takes the microphone to Aries. “A Double” insists on “paying some bills” and going to commercial break. Once we’re back from break, Marquez reiterates the question to Aries, why is he here in the NWA? And Austin Aries gives up nothing, saying “Tune in every week or buy a ticket,” because that’s how you are going to find out. Marquez continues to pry about his aspirations for NWA World Championships. Aries says he respects Adam Pearce. The perfect way to introduce the fans to Austin Aries was this match and that in-ring promo.
Next up is the Slymn video that has been aired the past few weeks. Slymn’s much anticipated debut is tonight!
Now we’re back with a narration from David Marquez running down what led to tonight’s main event. Last week, “Pretty” Peter Avalon was gifted the win last week with help from “the Rock Superstar” Joey Kaos. The two in cahoots tarnished “Hollywood’s Own” Joey Ryan’s unbeaten record and set up for tonight’s big event. The battle of Joeys, Ryan vs. Kaos!
After the break we return with Jonny Loquasto talking to “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce about the next Television Taping Event which comes to you live in Hollywood at the Regent Showcase Theatre in Hollywood on December 8th. Loquasto trying his best to socialize with Adam Pearce, but the champ will have nothing of it. Pearce calls Loquasto pathetic after Jonny asks to borrow Adam’s hat.
Next up we have Rachael Summerlyn taking on Lucky O’Shea. This is a competitive offering from both ladies with Summerlyn gaining the advantage. The finish comes when Mikey O’Shea comes out to distract Racahel and referee Chris Massie, and Lucky is able to get a roll up for the pin.
Joey Ryan, looking like a muscular Freddie Mercury is in the back with David Marquez. Joey says he always has a target on him. Everyone wants a piece of him. Next up is Colt “Boom-Boom” Cabana doing his best Willie Mays impression pitching the next set of tapings, Dec. 8th. Immediately following that we get the back story on the New York Knock Out, with Jeff Resnick.
The much anticipated debut for Slymn is a very quick match. In fact Keepin It Gangsta must mean keeping the match to less than 3 minutes. Slymn took on Ray Rosas. Rosas is a young up and comer, but was completely outmatched in power, size, and weight. Slymn’s debut was successful, but what David Marquez wants to know is what is next for the King of Bling. Slymn is staking his claim at the NWA Worlds Championship and plans on plowing through the competition to get it.
The Main Event is up, “The Rock Superstar” Joey Kaos takes on “Hollywood’s Own” Joey Ryan. As showcased earlier in the show, Kaos attacked Ryan last week. The fans who used to cheer for Joey Kaos now boo him. The Fans at the Galaxy Theatre are very much behind Joey Ryan. When Ryan does make his way to the ring, he isn’t his typical self. Gone are the shenanigans of dressing up the referee, Joey Ryan means business. Kaos bails to the floor in hopes of corrupting Ryan’s game plan, but instead gets an old fashioned whippin at the hands of Hollywood’s Own.
The beating Joey Ryan is giving Joey Kaos reminds me of the days when Joey was being booed by the fans teaming with the Machine Gun as the Real American Heroes. Whoever invented the term “From Pillar to Post” might have had a match like this in mind. Ryan beats Kaos in and out of the ring. The announcers put over Kaos’ warnings of something big were going to come to Hollywood. This match is far from a text book wrestling match. And if I can borrow the term, this is a Pier 6 Brawl.
Neither man is wrestling their particular style tonight, that’s for sure. Kaos is able to slow down the advancing Joey Ryan and this thing turns into quite the back and forth contest. The Battle of Joeys sees both men use moves from their repertoires, we haven’t seen in a while. Ryan uses the spear, Kaos attempts a moonsault, and both set up their finishers. Ryan is about to finish off Kaos with a superkick, but alas Joey Ryan gets distracted by “Pretty” Peter Avalon and it allows Joey Kaos to take advantage and connect with the Mafia Kick for the win.
Post match, Joey Ryan attempts to attack both Kaos and Avalon. But Ryan falls to the brutality of Joey Kaos and Peter Avalon. And Ryan looks doomed until Willie Mack with a 2x4 makes the save. The crowd goes nuts with HOOOOOOOOOO cheers. A really good match that didn’t see a clean finish, so we know nothing was settled between the two parties.
Next week we’ll see “Skull Krusher” Rasche Brown, Nick Madrid taking on the Navajo Warrior, and in the Main Event, “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce defends the NWA Worlds Championship against Willie Mack with Special Guest Referee, “Boom-Boom” Colt Cabana. Friday Night, KDOC, I’ll see you there.

Oceanside, California.
Adam Pearce before his match Saturday Night
On a night when "Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce would look to successfully defend his National Wrestling Alliance Worlds Championship for the 20th time against "The Mirror Image" Ricky Mandel in front of a the fans of Oceanside Boys and Girls Club. Pearce and Mandel would battle back and forth during the Semi-Main Event of SoCal Pro Wrestling's Redemption.
It would seem that the World's Champion would leave Oceanside in tact, when NWA North American Champion The Sheik would storm ring side and begin to attack Adam Pearce. Targeting and perhaps re-injuring the shoulder of "Scrap Iron" the Sheik locked in the infamous Camel Clutch. The Sheik would continue his brutality against the NWA Worlds Champion when SoCal Crazy would come out wielding a chair to chase out the "Madman from the Middle East."
A visibly upset David Marquez was heard yelling at the Sheik, "You aren't supposed to be here!" No word yet if this attack will affect the scheduled title defenses Adam Pearce has in Hollywood California, Wednesday December 8th for the NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood and for West Coast Wrestling Connection, in Portland Oregon against Aaron Bolo on Saturday the 11th and against Quiz in Springfield Oregon on Sunday the 12th.
