Anyone remember Frank Hickey from the 50s and 60s? I think he also went by Bozo Brown and the Spaceman. He was always a heel and when the announcer announced his name, he would go into this movement of waving his cape all around. That was the most action I ever saw out of him because once the bell rang, he was usually flattened by a dropkick and pinned, all within a few seconds! Several years ago, a friend of mine stopped at a truck stop in Kentucky and struck up a conversation with this almost crippled-looking man. The man started telling wrestling stories and my friend had him write down his name to bring back to me because of my past in wrestling. It was Frank hickey. I think he died shortly after.

Thanks for that information. I had no idea about most of that. Very interesting.

In Bobby Heenan's second book he tells a few stories about Frank that are really funny. He also recalls that before Frank passed away he was brought into Memphis to do a tag spot (Heenan didn't mention who) but the one guy said he would get any partner, even Spaceman Frank Hickey. When one of the boys went to pick up Frank he had his gear on, and confined to a wheelchair. He was able to stand up just long enough to do one spot, but said Frank really loved it. Heenan also mentions that if he was running a territory he would have kept Frank around just to keep the boys on their toes. He sounded like a real fun guy to be around.

Frank trained Tom Renesto and Tom always used Frank whenever he could. He was really an interesting character.
