Anyone remember the Joe Scarpa-Stan Stasiak feud on Friday nights at the Atlanta City Auditorium. It was very early 60s. They met every week in the main event. Joe had recently unmasked from being the Proud Rebel. I remember the night they called an ambulance for Scarpa. They opened that side door just below Georgia State University and brought the gurney in. Scarpa was on the floor by the timekeeper's table. I was a little boy and I remembered being very worried for my favorite wrestler. He was sidelined for awhile then they had a loser-leave-town match and Joe Scarpa won. I remember Stasiak on TV's "Live Atlanta Wrestling" the next night telling Ed Capral that it's only good for 90 days and that he would return to Atlanta in 90 days. I think it was more like 20 years before he returned!

What a feud it was. They worked there tails off. I too remember the gurney hauling him off and the loser leave town match was the first I ever witnessed and like you was worried that Scarpa would have to leave. Having worked with both of them I had a chance to talk with them about those days and they both spoke fondly of working with each other. Stasiak was one of the funniest people I have ever met. He caused me to lose it in the ring one night so bad I walked over to the corner and sat on the bottom turnbuckle laughing so hard I was crying. Wrestling 2 was lying face down on the mat shaking he was laughing so hard as well....
Thanks for the memory Danny....

Scarpa and Stasiak had some real battles at the Armory here in Thomaston. I remember that Stan was such a big guy for his day.
